Coffee break

Was taking a coffee/lunch break and thought I'd open up my dusty sketchbook. I drew a pretty lady with an elaborate back lace top. I didn't see her face once.
When I was done, this man who sat behind me said to me- "That's really good."
Instead of saying "Thank you," I actually said "I think it's a little creepy... I'm drawing her and she has no idea."
Two very well-dressed male lawyers were sitting nearby me while I was in this cafe. They were talking about litigation. I wonder if they thought I was an artist when they saw me sketch. I don't think they knew that the whole time, I was listening to their conversation while drawing this lady.

ART & LAW SCHOOL

I started graduate (law) school a few months ago and realized I forfeited a lot of my personal time to just keeping up with my readings or staying active to stay healthy. What easily fell through the cracks was my love of art.
During undergrad, I constantly sketched everything around me. I drew my classmates during classes (while listening of course) and sought out beauty around me. Even if I was in the middle of no-where Pennsylvania, I managed to keep wonderful art diaries where I expressed myself.
Today, I am in one of the most beautiful cities in America. I'm constantly surrounded by nature and beauty, facing the juxtaposition between the mountains, water, and urban cityscape. Unfortunately, I haven't felt like I have been giving it justice. Instead, I was focused on my legal studies and...another type of justice, I guess.
So I am hoping to use this blog just as an outlet. I hope to really do MORE ART...because, well, that would be beautiful.
